One Man Band : Character Analysis

Based on the short film of One Man Band by Pixar Film Inc., I think that the street performer who play violin, Treble is the antagonist character. For my opinion, in the first scene, he try to attarct the little girl for the golden coin, eventhought the another musician, or his rival, Bass as already try his best for the coin. He also seem like to underestimate the another musician, cleary seen when the Bass failed to excit the little girl. He also a creative person. By using the mechanical tool made by himself instead of empty can, showing that his creativity to gain more donation by surrounding people. I can also say that he is good strategy-plan, better than the Bass because of his planed himself for more attarctive, like well tidy stage, smart costume and his instruments are place in order.

Character Analysis of One Man Band

From the short clip by Pixar Inc, generally there are three characters in the movie.

The first one is certainly the cute little girl as the main character. She is the only protagonist in the clip, where the girl wants to make a wish by putting a coin in a wish well as the story started. From my opinion, she is somewhat easily distracted or influenced by others where she suddenly wants to give the only coin she has to the either on of the man band. To make a long story short, she was obedient in the beginning of the story. However, she is a dynamic character which turn out to be such a scary person at the end of the story. It all started when her coin fell into the hole. She initially interested to the music from the two bands but it turns out that she is better then those two.

The second character is the one man band with the drums and whistling instruments. He is the antagonist. He compete with another one man band to get money in the beginning. He then cooperate with the wired instrument man band at the end of the story. Dynamic.

The third character is the wired instrument one man band. He using instruments like violins and such like that. Second antagonist. Compete with man band mentioned above, to get money in the beginning. At the end of story, cooperated with him. Dynamic.

There is a lot of theme portrayed in the movie One Man Band. One of the themes in this movie is Jealousy. We can see this theme through the character of the two musicians. They are competing each other to get the one and only coin from the girl. At first the girl wants to give the coin to the man with the drummer but after the man with the trumpet cone and gain the girl’s attention, the girl wants to give the man the coin. This make the man with the trumpet get jealous and try harder to attract the girl’s attention. This shows that the theme jealousy had been portrayed in this movie. The theme of selfishness also had being portrayed in this movie. This can be seen when the two musicians that is from the beginning till the end, they still competing each other to get the coin. They do not want work together in order to get the coin as they are both selfish. They only want to get the coin for them one’s self. If they do not selfish and work together to get the coin, they might get the coin from the girl. Their selfishness also had made the girl piss off as the coin had fall into the drain.

Based on this video clip, the irony in the video clip is the girl became angry after her coin dropped into the drain. Before that, the girl is kind and willing to give her money to one of the musicians. But after her money dropped into the drain, she made her revenge. She threw her money to the top part of the wishing well. The two musicians that against each other have to co-operate to get the money at the top of the wishing well. These two musicians were against each other to impress the girl so that they can get the money but now they have to work together to get the money.

CHARACTERISTICS
The video case has three main characters. The characters are the little girl, and two men band.

The girl characteristics is her heart can be changed easily. For example, she wants to throw the gold coin into wishing well but then, she wants to give the gold coin to the first man band. However, she changed her mind to give the gold coin to the second man band. She is also a revenge girl. She pay her revenge towards the both man bands by throwing the gold coin to the top of the wishing well as the man bands make her gold coins dropped into the drain. The little girl is a good musician. She played the guitar nicely. When she played the guitar, she managed get a bag full with gold coins.

The characteristics of the two men band are they love played the music and that’s the main reason why they became a men band. They played the musical instruments nicely, the melody created sounded like a team of orchestra. Both of men band are greedy person. They bear to cooperate with each other just to take the gold coins from the top of wishing well even though they compete to each other at the beginning. Both of man band also can stole other attention as they managed to catch the little girl’s attention when she wants to throw the gold coins into the big white wishing well.
